Q: Why should I choose an in-home pet sitter over boarding?
A: Hiring a pet sitter allows your pet to stay where they're most comfortable: at home. There are situations where boarding is a better alternative, such as pets with separation anxiety, but for the most part staying in their familiar environment reduces the stress of their person's absence.
Q: Why should I choose a professional pet sitter over a hobbyist?
A: A professional pet sitter has the experience, the accountability, and the motivation to handle any of the myriad situations that may come up during your absence. This is our chosen profession, not simply a hobby. Professionals also carry liability insurance for your peace of mind. Q: Do you board animals in your home?
A: No, we are not able to offer that service.
Q: Do you petsit for dogs?
A: Cats are our specialty, but we'd be glad to refer you to someone who does.
Q: I'm not sure I'm comfortable with someone entering my home while I'm away.
A: If you've never used a pet sitter, it can be a little scary. Kit-n-Kaboodle has been in business since 1999, and we are both bonded and insured for your peace of mind. We are also members of the trade organization Pet Sitters International.
Q: How far in advance do I need to contact you?
A: If you are a prospective client, we request at least three weeks notice so that we can schedule a pre-travel consultation. There is no charge for the consultation. We do not accept bookings without this meeting beforehand. If you're traveling during a holiday period, it's not unusual for the schedule to be full 4-6 weeks in advance, so please contact us as soon as possible.
Q: What happens during the pre-travel consultation?
A: This is a getting acquainted time to make sure we're a good match. If we are, at this time the service contract will be filled out and pet care and home care instructions reviewed. Please have a copy of your house key ready to give the sitter.
